On September 4th, 2013 a team consisting of Nicu Posta from Chindia Tourism Association, Marius Prundaru and Ileana Bocanciu from Edelweiss Ecological Association left for an expedition suggestively entitled „ZUGSPITZE 2013”.
This action was part of ¨TOP 28¨program from Chindia Tourism Association, aiming to reach highest peaks in each country of the EU.
The main objective of this expedition was to reach the highest peak in Germany, Zugspitze of 2962 m, on a difficult route.
In this endeavor, the most courageous mountaineers were supported also by Geo – Sting.
The departure was from Targoviste City Hall, and Deputy Mayor Ciprian Prisacaru handed to the principal organizer a flag and a city pennon in a symbolic celebrating moment.
On September 10th, 2013 Dambovita mountaineer team reached highest peak in Belgium, at 694 m - Signal de Botrange, in Hautes Fagnes area, a protected region with active peat bogs. Note that in order to reach 700 m, Belgians raised in 1920 an artificial mound – Mound Baltia – located close to the natural one.
Edelweiss Ecological Association team hoisted the Romanian flag on the highest peaks in Germany, Netherlands (Holland) and Belgium. Along with the national symbols, on the highest Europeans peaks there also stood proudly Geo-Sting insignia, a company actively involved and supportive of initiatives and social projects.
The three Dambovita county natives returned on the evening of September 12th, 2013 following the route Munich – Budapest – Sibiu – Targoviste.
